Whether crafting bespoke designs for boutique hotels and restaurants, breathing new life into short-term rentals through complete renovations, or transforming residential kitchens and baths, Rae brings a distinctive design style that stems from her diverse experiences as a collector, entrepreneur, and world traveler. She draws on her formal education in fashion merchandising, the creation of her own vacation rental, and the founding of both a creative agency and a photo studio to provide her clients with unmatched results from a variety of perspectives. Rae merges beauty and purpose with particular attention to curating global treasures while also offering creative strategy for her designs in the form of graphics, photography, and brand direction.

Curation is my favorite medium of art because it extends far beyond interior design—it's a way of life. I approach curation as a holistic practice that encompasses not only the spaces I design but also the experiences I create, the places I travel, the people I surround myself with, and even how I express myself through fashion and art. I also love curating the talents of my friends—artists, musicians, and creatives—bringing them together for events and acting as a connector. Whether I’m entertaining guests, styling an outfit, or planning a journey, I'm always thinking about how to unite elements in a way that feels meaningful and impactful. It’s about setting a tone, evoking a feeling, and shaping the world around me with intention. For me, curation is the ultimate form of expression, using every detail to craft a life that resonates with beauty, purpose, and connection.
The work I'm most proud of right now is my primary home located in the high desert of California. Though it's still a work in progress, it truly reflects my style and the treasures I've collected over the years. Two of its rooms have even been featured on Architectural Digest, which is a testament to the unique character and warmth the space exudes. It’s a place that captures the welcoming atmosphere I love to create for friends, with thoughtfully curated details. It’s not just a design project; it’s an evolving expression of who I am and the life I’ve built.
My creative process starts by spending time in the space to understand its energy, flow, and potential. I collaborate with clients to define how it should feel and function, drawing inspiration for colors and materials from experiences, travels, and the space itself. I experiment with textures, tones, and renderings to achieve the perfect balance of form and function, refining the design through a collaborative process. Sourcing materials and decorative elements is a favorite part, especially when incorporating antiques, small businesses, and artists. The goal is always to ensure the final result not only looks stunning but also feels intentional and cohesive.
I find a lot of inspiration through traveling, where I’m constantly absorbing new cultures and environments, seeking out spaces that spark my creativity—whether it’s a boutique hotel, coffee shop, bookstore, restaurant, bar, or historical landmark. I also find inspiration in museums, magazine shops, and flipping through art books. Antique markets are treasure troves, full of unexpected pieces that spark new ideas. Nature, with its endless variety of textures and colors, is another constant source of inspiration. I also look to creative icons like Georgia O’Keeffe for her bold use of color and form, Wes Anderson for his meticulous attention to detail and quirky aesthetics, and Frank Lloyd Wright for his seamless integration of architecture and nature. Each of these influences helps shape my approach to design, blending the old with the new and the natural with the artistic.
